Black screen after hosts system recovery

Hi All,

I have been using VirualBox for a while now and works nicely for what I need from it. But currently I am getting only a black screen when starting a VM and this prevents me from doing anything.

I am using a Windows 8 host system and I had some issues with my PC so I had to do a Recovery. I took the time to backup everything and made exports of my VMs so that I wouldnt lose anything. I did a recovery of windows 8 and all went normal there, it did its thing, it uninstalled everything as it should and gave me back a clean pc with all of my files still intact.

So in installed virualbox again and it already had my machines ready to open. So I started one of them to see if all is fine there but all I see is black. It starts up the machine but the screen remains black. I tried it on the other VMs and all the same results. I tried to add the backup that I made before I did the recovery, but that too only gives me a black screen.

Could you guys please help me out and give me some advice so that I can use my VMs again.

If I check the about information on Virtual Box it says that it is version 4.2.4. I Checked for updates and none are available.
The version that I had before I did my PC recovery might not have been the latest version, would that be an issue?

I did another attempt and now installed Version 4.3.18 on my pc and that also didnt solve the issue with only seeing a black screen as the VM is started up.
Did a full reinstall of the pc and still only getting a black screen.

Any advice please?
