VirtualBox VM 4.3.18 r96516 gets aborted periodically

Post by Vaib »

Hi,

I have a guest CentOS 6.5 installed on host Windows Server Enterprise (2007) Service Pack 2 – 32 Bit OS. Everything was running smooth for few weeks and then the VM's got crashed and its status was ABORTED. But on Starting the VM, it starts properly, but after sometime may be hours or few days it gets aborted again. So I upgraded the Virtualbox from 4.3.10 to 4.3.18 but still not luck as it continues to get Aborted.

Please find the attached log file for reference.

Regards,

Vaib

Operating systems do abort, even on physical hardware. If the problem is in the OS, changing the version of VirtualBox is not going to fix it. Do you get any error messages in CentOS?

The log doesn't show a VM running for hours, it shows one failing to boot because no disks are attached, and being suspended after 15 seconds. You also have an LsiLogic SCSI bus controller enabled for some reason?

Well there is no reason for enabling LsiLogic SCSI. But I can give it a try using IDE. But my main concern is why does the VM goes to Running --> Suspending --> Suspended.

I changed to IDE from LsiLogic SCSI. But the VM got aborted again and this time it was after 24mins. Please check the new logs for the same. I really don't understand what is making it to Suspend!!

Is there some kind of power managment kicking in inside the guest? E.g. shutting down the disks?

I have a very simalr situation. I am running windows 2008 server. I upgraded to VB 4.3.18 now it aborts about every 24 hours.
this did not happen until I upgraded to 4.3.18.
This morning I was able to find out a little more information. Drive D: which is the data drive for the server was gone in windows storage.
I had to restart the server then it appread.
I may be having an issue with the VDI I am not sure.
