Windows 10 TP 4.3.18 GA video driver won't install

Host: Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit
Guest: Windows 10 TP 32 bit

Regular install : VB screen goes black

Windows 8 compatibility mode: VB screen goes black

Windows 7 compatibility mode:

3D unchecked

The 4.3.18 GA video driver installation fails. I tried to see what would happen doing a manual update driver using the have disk option from the Device Manager selecting the VB GA video .inf and it said that the video driver was not compatible with the OS. The install_driver is as follows:

My VM display settings has a check mark on the 3D box and is set to use 256MB. During a default GA install the screen goes black when the video driver is installed. The only thing that is visible is the network icon at the login screen location which flashes on about every half minute or so. I made a snapshot of the VM before doing the GA install so I can quickly recover the VM when the GA install fails. I even tried to install GA in safe mode and it also goes to a black screen when attempting a normal restart.

W10 requires 3D.

I read the referenced topic. My Windows 10 32 bit VM is using one virtual CPU.

You could try to update W10 from PC Settings->Update and Recovery->Preview builds. The latest preview build fixes the W10 bug which caused a crash with 3D disabled.

I installed Windows 10 TP x64 and did the preview update after boosting the RAM in the test PC. The host PC now has 4.00GB of RAM. The screen still goes black when the 3D display setting is check marked. When it is unchecked the VirtualBox video driver has an error condition and is disabled in the Device Manager. A preview update has no effect on the 32 bit VM.
