Hi,

VB 4.3.12
Host Win 8.1 64-bit
Guest Win 10 Preview 32-bit

While in Win 10 I tried to Restart Win 10 it, instead, Rebbots the Host Machine.
Seems WIN 10 gains access to Host Hardwarde.

Are you sure that you are using the proper shutdown of the guest OS?

Hi Perryg

No, it is not the Shutdown of Guest VB, it is the nornal "Restart" from Windows that instead of restarting Windows 10 it Reboots the Host instead. It shows me that are 2 open Progamms (2 VM of VB) and if I say "Restart Anyway" it reboots de Laptop as if Windows 10 was the Host OS.

Hi Perryg

I wanted to reproduce the situation for to make screenshots and I notice that was my error.
The screen resolution of the Guest was to high so I was not seeing the actual Win 10 Start Button, instead I was using the host Start Button, they are exactly the same so I did not notice it
As a Workaround so that it will never happen again, I will switch every WM to fullscreen mode.
I apolise for it.
Thank you.

I just had this exact same thing happen. I had updated to the latest preview build 9860, i believe and had VM box set to expand to guest monitor and had a resolution of 1900x1002. good enough with in the vm
I distinctly opted to choose the windows shut down and used its icon and was given the only 2 choices 'shut down' and 'restart'
i opted for shut down as it had rebooted a number of times ,all perfectly , as i updated windows and then did the preview update to a new build. all that went perfectly.
it was when i got tired of it and wanted to try to shut down only the windows inside the box. It had worked before. I may have been using a different resolution, not sure. I did get the guest additions installed and got the better graphics drivers and it works great ,get full extended desktop across my monitors and drag/drop ,so far
Just that this post caught my eye enough to open an account to post.
the vm 'view' options change as i open up windows within it. 2 or 3 are dimmed out for a while, then all of them are live . i had used 'host +G' to get the screen and windows the way i liked it to be. from that window view is when it all closed with windows. may be supposed to for all i know
I learned how to use this in only a day or so and it works just fine ,even better since it is the freeware version. very powerful and featured. far more than i expected. only had issues the first few hours till i figured out how to install the guest additions or whatever they are called and it was very easy worked flawlessly, too.
thanks
John
