I'm running Virtualbox 4.3.16r95972 on Windows 7 Pro SP1 host
I have a Win 7 Pro VM guest that won't revert to a particular snapshot with error "Failed to restore the snapshot "Operational 11 Sept 2014 of the virtual machine Win7 Lab 1" Could not open the medium 'D:\Restore\SRV_E-Converted.vhd'. VD: error VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND opening image file …".
The message is right in that the VHD was deleted from the system and no longer exists. I don't need the VHD either. I just would like to be able to restore the snapshot without it.
I tried to remove instances of the UUID from the VM's .vbox XML file (I read some details on another forum post) but the entries always reappeared when I started Virtualbox, regardless of having all the vbox processes closed and any services stopped.
