Problem with VirtualBox 4.3.16 and Intel VT-x

Post by hejo »

Hello!

Recently updated VirtualBox to 4.3.16 on my HP 600B box and in one go support for 64-bit guests disappeared despite it had been working just fine in previous VirtualBox version.
No matter if Hypervisor is activated in BIOS or if the Intel G645T processor's Intel hardware-assisted virtualization is used, still the same result; no support for 64-bit guests.

In case something isn't working properly in VirtualBox verison 4.3.16 I thought I might give you a heads up.

*EDIT* Found this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=64079
Turning off Hyper-V in Turn Windows features on or off and having hardware virtualization support (Hypervisor) enabled in BIOS did the trick; the support for 64-bit guests in VirtualBox started to work again.

For anyone coming across this topic, the checklist for getting 64bit guests working is here.

Can anyone help?

I am using 4.3.18 (latest version). Initially I had problem seeing Guest OS of 64 bits (saw only 32 bits) and solved it by following the click here link in my previous post (need to disble hyper-v).

However, it will not boot up. I have to boot into last known good configuration. I have yet to test with a new VM (will try later) whether everything still works.
