USB 2 controller not really working in VBox 1.6

Hello,
I run Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 (the problem was the same on Gutsy Gibbon 7.04).
I run VirtualBox 1.5.6.
I have a very nice DSLR camera Canon 40D. I use a virtualized Windows XP to import my raw photos but the usb 1.1 interface of vbox was really slow to import an average of 450 photos @ 12MB each at once, so I enabled the EHCI usb controller.
Then after booting the virtual machine I noticed my camera was no longer recognized as a Canon 40D but a regular "Digital Still Camera" and the camera was not "linked" to the canon utility software anymore. To fix this you are suppose to right-click on the camera in "my Computer" choose properties and link the camera with the proper software, but here is the trick, when I click on properties this message pops up: "The properties for this item are not available"
Note that everything works fine as long as I don't check the USB EHCI controller option in the VM settings... I really need USB 2 speed so if someone ran in the same direction and somehow found a solution, please tell me !
