VirtualBox version: 4.2.24

Guest OS: Win Server 2012 R2 Std (64bit)
No Guest additions

Keep receiving this error during boot:

Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x000000C4
Parameters:
0x0000000000000091
0x000000000000000F
0xFFFFF80348BCCA00

Tried the 4.3.16 version also enabled the CPU instruction CMPXCHG16B but still get the same error.
Tried using the ShadowProtect backup image as well as downloaded ISO from Microsoft, same error.

Tested the same setup to host on a Windows 7 Pro 64bit PC and it works fine, wonder if anyone can help please.

Could you upgrade your VirtualBox version to the latest and greatest 4.3.18? There have been several bug fixes since 4.2.24 and it may fix your problem as well. I know for sure that you don't have to manually add the CMPXCHG16B workaround for example.

Hi all...

I am getting this error message too only in a particular situation though..

I have a bunch of VM's while I am testing and reseraching Windows Deployment Services for the lite touch method.
Anyway after I have sysprepped and rebooted to do a capture I get the Error 0x000000C4 plus parameters..

I have tried latest Virtualbox, downgraded to 4.2.6
Tried the “c:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe” setextradata “<Virtual Machine Name Here>” VBoxInternal/CPUM/CMPXCHG16B 1 FIX which seems to relate to this error message.
Tried as many possible combinations as possible in system settings. But I "Only" get the problem while its loading to to do the capture.

Any thoughts would be appreciated....

Solved my problem. Even though Virtualbox was set as Windows7 64bit and my OS was Windows 7 the deployment tools PE are based around Windows 8.1. Once I changed the OS to Windows 8.1 it kicked in..
