Mouse quirks in Win98 guest

Hello all,

I setup a Win98SE VM for playing old(er) games and everything works really well.

The only issue I am encountering is that the mouse occasionally gets stuck "vertically" as in it will move in a straight line horizontally but vertical travel is blocked. The issue is transient and goes away. Note that this happens on the simple windows desktop, not just in games.

Any suggestions of how to track this down? I am using the standard PS/2 mouse option in the VB setup. This is all on a Debian host (which does not display this behavior).

Suggestions welcome! Searching the forums all I've been able to find are issues with the mouse not working at all - this setup works fine 95% of the time...
