It seems like USB support on Mac OS hosts has been a long running problem on VirtualBox. Hoping someone has an answer for this issue.
I have a Western Digital Elements 1TB USB HDD NTFS formatted which I want to access via a W7x64 guest installation on MBP. I have installed guest extensions and set up the USB and USB filters. When I plug in the HDD Windows captures it, and VB sees the device details correctly (Manufacturer, device ID etc), but Windows complains that "USB Device Not Recognized" and it doesn't appear as drive in the Explorer window. It suggests that the device has malfunctioned. I know this is not the case, as I can access it on VMWare hosted windows installations on other Macs.
So what might I be doing wrong?
I saw something on some board about USB3 / USB2 support, perhaps? The Mac is a current MacBook Pro, so I think the connector is USB3, does VB not fully support this yet?
Any help or suggestions welcome.
