[Solved] Keep Windows off my network?
[Solved] Keep Windows off my network?
Can Virtual box be used like CoLinux to keep Windows off my network? I use CoLinux as a secure browser and for server tools, but I have to switch to Windows 8 64bit and CoLinux is only for 32bit kernels. I use Windows for work and the software will not run in Wine or VM and dual boot is not an option. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Keep Windows off my network?
Are you wanting to run a Linux guest which can get to the internet, but keep your Windows host off the internet? I have such a setup at home. Virtualbox doesn't do such a thing by itself, but if your network router has the correct tool then it is easily done.
Set the guest's networking to Bridged. (NAT may or may not work - try it and see if you want. My house setup is on Bridged.) Set the host to a static IP address, then set the router's Access Restrictions page to block internet access to the host's IP address. Your host will have access to everything on your network except the internet, and the guest will get internet access despite running on a blocked host.
