Create virtual Machine fails

I need some help on a few problems.
I am running Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit and would like to install Windows 10 as a virtual machine. I have downloaded the software of virtual box and trying to follow the instructions for the installation. The 1st instruction is to click on "new" and to insert a name for the installation-– no problem at this stage except that 'Windows 64-bit 8.1" is not found in the drop-down list. The closest I can find is Windows 8.1 32-bit. (However on the instructions 64-bit is clearly indicated).
I decided to ignore this and to leave it at the 32-bit and to carry on with the installation.
I successfully create the memory size and the disc size and open the installation file.
I get as far as "start", which I then press and a screen comes up informing me that there is an error because of something related to other operating systems (OS and other).
I decided to press "continue" and the next screen that came up was that my "keyboard was set to capture" and that booting would fail. I could not progress any further.
I then deleted what I had created so far.
I am looking for some guidance as to when I go from here.
Looking forward to a reply
