I am currently running VirtualBox 4.3.12 on Windows 8.1. I have previously created virtual machines for several versions of Windows and Linux without any issues. However, I attempted to install the Windows 10 technical preview today, and I discovered an issue. Any time I try to start any virtual machine (whether the Windows 10 or another one already created), I receive a message stating:
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it."
Attempting to run a virtual machine now leads to this error:
"Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x0000000A
Parameters:
0xFFD00000
0x000000FF
0x0000000A
0x8176C1D3"
Using other posts on this forum, I have already determined that the problem is not in the BIOS (It clearly labels AMD-V acceleration as enabled). I have no other virtual machine software installed, so the problem cannot be that hardware acceleration is being used by another program. I am thinking maybe there is a Windows setting that is disabling it, but I do not know where that setting might be. Any ideas?

Let me explain my case what is similar to hermanj04 issue.
I am trying to install Windows 10 Technical Preview on VirtualBox but I am receiving a message with the error code
0x0000000A
Parameters
0xFFD00000
0x000000FF
0x0000000A
0x81D171D3
I am tring to install with the archive WindowsTechnicalPreview-x86-EN-US.iso on a VirtualBox Configuration for Windows 8.1. (32 bits)
The parameter for hardware acceleration VT-x/AMD-V is enabled.
I have created before other virtual machines with other operating systems without issues.
All those machines have been created with the last updated release of VirtualBox what is 4.3.16. and that is the same one that I am using this time.
I have enabled the virtualization in my BIOS, in fact, is made by default and it is not possible to modify it. I have a host with Windows 8.1 on a laptop Toshiba E1 Vision AMD E1-1200 APU which does not have the possibility to change the parameter on BIOS Setup. I checked by that characteristic in the web page of the builder and that it is enabled by the factory. But moreover to be trully secure about it, I downloaded an info system app that confirmed that condition.
Thanks in advance
