4.3.16 completely broken on win 7 (64 bit) ?

I upgraded today from 4.3.6 to 4.3.16
i got several complaints about disk files not being completely allocated (i thought this was the point of 'dynamic')
then things got *MUCH* worse when i tried to start a previously working VM...after a long delay i get a popup with:

Creating process for virtual machine "XXX" (GUI/Qt) (1/2)

which never disappears until I hit the X in the top right corner
only a single ~28kb line in VBoxStartup
i tried a creating a new VM, same issue starting it...
i tried uninstalling VirtualBox, uninstaller hung forever...
I tried closing Windows, I had to approve forcibly stopping the uninstaller, but shutdown never completed and I had to hit the power button
on restart, i uninstalled and reinstalled VirtualBox, deleted my VMs and tried to create a new one, same issue starting it, same inability to shutdown windows
its quite a piece of MALWARE you have created...

many thanks socratis, i do indeed have avast free...
google didn't find the relevant post for me and nothing else about the issue implied security
the remaining question is, why is oracle presenting such an utterly unusable version as the preferred version on the download page...i would have thought they have the market experience to know better

looks like there is also an issue with AMD-V, my 64 bit guests wont run anymore
probably Avast related once again but worked in 4.3.6
i should have stuck with VMWare
