Hello,
I have ONLY updated from version 4.3.14 to 4.3.16 and I have also updated the Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack.
The network of the VMs use the NAT mode.
My problem is following:
then VMs (Lubuntu, Debian, Windows 7) have trouble with network connections - only ping works - all other
network service timed out.
If I change to bridge mode with a static ip - the VMs work (but I need this mode not)

Re: virtualbox version 4.3.16 on win7 64Bit
See the test build provided in "security issues" discussion at the top of this forum. Apparantly test build #4 fixes a NAT problem.

enclosed infos from Sophos (I will test it) :
Applies to the following Sophos product(s)
Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+
What To Do
The below workaround is available for Sophos Anti-Virus versions of Sophos Anti-Virus.
Note: This is not available for SAV 9.0.x and lower.
Preventing the Sophos Detoured being installed on minor and major updates:
You will need to change the settings in your registry. Before you start read the warning about editing the registry.
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type Regedit and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Locate the following registry subkey:
(32-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\SAVService\SetupOptions
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sophos\SAVService\SetupOptions
On the Edit menu, select 'New' and then click 'String Value'.
In the details pane, type DetourDLLState for the new value, and then press ENTER.
Right-click DetourDLLState and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type excluded and then click OK.
Removing Sophos Detoured from the registry, so it cannot be loaded.
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type Regedit and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Navigate to the following registry key location(s):
(32-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~1\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~1.DLL
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~2.DLL
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~1.DLL
(Take care in only removing the entry created by Sophos, other third party software may also have text in these registry values)
Exit Registry Editor.
A reboot of the computer is required in order to unload the Sophos_Detoured.dll from the running processes.
Sophos Anti-Virus has now been configured to never install the Sophos Detoured DLL component into the registry, this will remain the case between minor and major updates. If Sophos Anti-Virus is uninstalled the key may be removed.
Alternative Solution (Windows 7, 8, 2008 R2 and 2012 Only)
Setting the registry value LoadAppInit_DLLs to 0 will stop all AppInit_DLLs from loading.
Please Microsoft KB for further information on the below registry keys.
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type Regedit and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Navigate to the following registry key location(s):
(32-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
LoadAppInit_DLLs REG_DWORD 0
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
LoadAppInit_DLLs REG_DWORD 0
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
LoadAppInit_DLLs REG_DWORD 0
Temporary Removal for Testing Purposes
At the taskbar, click Start|Run. Type Regedit and press Return. The registry editor opens.
Navigate to the following registry key location(s) and backup each location listed into a reg file:
(32-bit & 64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\
(64-bit Only) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Navigate to the following registry key location(s):
(32-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~1\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~1.DLL
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~2.DLL
(64-bit) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\AppInit_DLLs
Delete the text: C:\PROGRA~2\Sophos\SOPHOS~1\SOPHOS~1.DLL
(Take care in only removing the entry created by Sophos, other third party software may also have text in these registry values)
Exit Registry Editor.
Logout and login again.
Perform any tests required to discover if Detoured is responsible for the problem.
Note: To restore the registry data after testing import the backup reg files created in point 2.
