VitualBox not booting from DVD

Hello,

I have a Mac Computer and have installed VirtualBox to run a second Mac OSX. I have a Snow Leopard install DVD which VirtualBox booted from the first time I attempted to install. The only problem was that I did not have enough RAM for VirtualBox to run smoothly so I closed the installation of Snow Leopard. Since then I have uninstalled VB, deleted all the files, upgraded the RAM and reinstalled VB. However now it won't even boot from the DVD (not even any noise from the disc drive) and it just remains on the black start screen so I can't install OSX. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have now created a bootable Mavericks ISO but this too won't boot in VirtualBox. The same black screen with nothing happening.

Thanks

There was no need to uninstall VirtualBox, nor delete your files. But, since you did, that means that you created a new VM, a new "recipe". If you had managed to boot at some point, that means that your VM settings might not be correct. Would you mind posting the .vbox file so we can have a look at it?
Right-click on the VM, Show in Finder. Attach that file (zipped).
P.S. Was it Snow Leopard or Mavericks that you wanted to install in the VM?

Thanks for the reply.

The settings are set exactly the same but nothing I try to boot works.

I originally tried installing Snow Leopard using the install DVD and it booted but I did not have enough RAM to install at this stage so I had to force quit. I uninstalled VB and deleted the files. After upgrading RAM I tried SL DVD multiple times but it would not boot the DVD and the drive made no noise - screen just black. As soon as I quit VB the main mac mounts the DVD.
After that didn't work I tried installing Mavericks using an ISO created with Diskmaker X but again nothing happens - not even the VirtualBox boot screen.
