Microphone issues in XP PRo VM with IP Communicator

I've got an XP Pro VM working in GNS3, and I've been able to get it recognized by the Guest OS by using USB passthrough AND connecting it to the rear USB ports (the front ports aren't recognized in the VM).

I've got a cisco 3745 running in GNS3 that I installed cme-full-7.1.0.0.tar to, to act as a call manager. I was hoping to use the microphone and my headphones with IP Communicator to simulate a Cisco VOIP phone I don't have, but that software only recognizes the onboard intel chipset, even though the microphone works when I test it in VM. Is there any way to get it to work, or am I just SOL, and need to spring for an actual cisco phone?
