Configuring network in2012 server

Post by Milew »

I am running Windows 8 pro, Server 2012 and PFsense on virtualbox. Everything has been smooth thus far, but I cnanot get internet. The pfsense Wan is 192.168.1.12/24 and lan is 192.168.1.1/24

When I go into the ethenet and IPV$ properties, I set the ip as192.168.1.1 class C and default as 192.168.1.1 Alternate DNS 192.168.1.1

What am I doing wrong

I would recommend not setting the IP address to 192.168.1.1, unless that machine is the actual gateway (doesn't sound like it from your post).
Instead, pick something else, maybe 192.168.1.2.

You really need to provide a bit better information though.

Take a look at this doc, I found it both helpful and informative. I know it relates to Server 2008 but you should be able to figure it out.

Several things to consider.
  • 1) you LAN scheme should never be in the same address block as the WAN.
    2) you should use the internal network mode instead of host-only.
