Hi,
I'm using virtualbox 4.3.0. I've already done a lot of images that is really important for my study. I want to upgrade vbox from 4.3.0 to 4.3.12. I did a lot of research but nothing works.
These are some of the things that I did to fix the issue but failed.
1) help > Check for updates
This doesn't work. This is the error message "The network operation failed with the ff error. Unknown reason"
2) research on upgrading linux using commandline
I dont if this even exist in windows host. I did find though commands to start vbox etc. but nothing on upgrading it.
3) The last thing on my mind was downloading the latest version and install it (PLease take note that the outdated version is still installed.) But Im afraid that this will delete all the images I have created so I haven't done it yet.
Could you tell me what options do I have that will enable me to upgrade vbox without deleting the snapshots and images. Thank you.

Re: Upgrade Vbox without deleting the images
If by "images" you mean VMs, then upgrading VirtualBox does not delete them. Why would you expect any such thing to happen? Does Microsoft delete all your old Word documents when you install a new version of Office?
- Make a backup of your existing VMs. No special reason for this, but always a good idea.
- Download the VirtualBox version you want to install. I recommend 4.3.12 (not the latest - 4.3.16).
- Uninstall the existing VirtualBox software from your PC. Make sure it is gone. As mentioned, this doesn't delete your VMs.
- Install the new VBox version. On 64bit hosts it's a good idea to use "Run as administrator" to run the installer.
