Is Oracle ever going to make VirtualBox for OSX support USB

Post by nospam2k »

I know that sounds sarcastic but I have NEVER been so frustrated with a useless app like VB on Mac. At best it's a Internet Explorer emulator. It is utterly useless for ANYTHING that requires USB. Can't access Bluetooth, can't access internal card reader. USB HD's show up as "Invalid USB device".

I have read all over the internet that this has been a problem for YEARS! Why bother even making a version for OSX? Why not just say "we don't have the technical ability to write a VM for Mac yet, we will leave that to more apt companies until we learn how to deal with USB." Just remove it altogether. Make life easier on yourselves. Stick with what you know (Java).

I know this is just a rant, but I am so tired of trying to use VB on Mac and all the dead ends. I really don't want to spend $49 to buy VMWare but I really don't see the alternative if I want a virtual machine.

Why beat your head against a wall. If VirtualBox does not work for you then by all means use something else. Parallels comes to mind.

I am an OS X user, 10.9.5 with VB 4.3.16, and I have no problem with USB handling since VB 4.3.12.
So, go elsewhere OR get updated
