Installing Windows 7 on Mac OS

Post by wombat_ »

Hi Everyone

I have been reading every tutorial online but still struggling to mount/install Windows 7 to my mac. ( mac os 10.7.5)

I keep receiving the message " FATAL: no bootable medium can be found" after setting up the drive and trying to boot the installation cd.

Do you have any feedback. I have windows 7 enterprise and windows 7 in .iso format and have tried installing both

Is there something

Any help would be greatly appreciated or any additional info you require I can provide

Regards

If the ISO is a valid image of a bootable Win7 setup DVD then simply mount it in the VM using the <settings>|Storage section, and boot the VM.

The error message is saying that some element of the previous sentence doesn't pan out. The error message is never wrong.

Hi I have downloaded both Windows versions from microsoft so they should be fine.

I think there's something I've done wrong " mounting" the drive in the settings section.

I've included a couple screenshots here, thanks for your help Im doing my best here but as you said, something is not quite right.

Untick the "live CD/DVD" option. Are you sure the CD/DVD image is an ISO? Can you provide the download link where you got it?

Was this a free download? The only free downloads that Microsoft provides for older OS, that I know of, are service packs and the like. They are not full installs, and are not bootable.

Thank you for the quick reply.

That didn't solve the problem

Here is where I downloaded Win7 from

check screenshot for address ( attached)

Yes it was a free download. ( you can buy license later)

Do you have any recommendations how to best handle the situation?

That is a web page address, I asked for the complete download link - and anyway I see no Win7 download on that page.

That looks like a service pack CD, not an OS installer.
