Trying to get guest installed

I created a VirtualBox in Win7 (host). I'm trying to create an XP Pro (Guest)
I currently have an error that I don't know how to resolve.

You will see Under XPVirtualMachine it shows Guru Meditation. The settings box is greyed out. If I right click on it the Remove is greyed out.
What can I do to fix the error? I don't have to save anything because I haven't successfully created a guest yet.

I have attached the VBox.log file to this post.

Thank you,

Code: Select all

Guru Meditation -4004 (VERR_VMX_INVALID_VMXON_PTR)

C:\Dnload\XP\XP_ProSp3UpdatesJuly2012SATARepair.iso
Your install disk does not seem to be a normal install ISO.

How can I change it with the settings greyed out?

Thank you,

Not sure as I have never seen that one before. It looks like it is suspended. I would close everything VirtualBox and wait 30 seconds and start it again.

What version of VirtualBox are you using?

Two other possibilities since I looked at my notes regarding the error message. Do not use another virtualization program with VirtualBox and it has also been reported that a bios update was needed.

I closed it. I re-opened it. I'm getting a warning saying:
"One or more virtual hard disks, CD/DVD or floppy disk image files are not currently accessible. As a result, you will not be able to operate virtual machines that use these files until they become accessible later"

It has two options Ignore or check.
It doesn't tell me what file is the problem.
After choosing the check option this windows came up:

After selecting the next tab:

The files I have are:

How can I either:
Remove the link to these files
or
Re-create the files it needs to resolve this warning.

Each of the yellow "!" will need to be released and removed in the media manager for the program to work.

Thank you,

I was successful in removing the old files and I finally created an XP guest.

Thank you very much for your help.

I shutdown the guest. I closed VirtualBox.

I'm getting an error when I try to open VirtualBox. The error is:

I really hate to ask the same questions so I will ask only one more time. What version of VirtualBox are you running?

Thank you for the test edition.

After installing Test build #3: 4.3.17 r96101 the problem was fixed.

That's really great.

Thank you,
