Loading System\Library\Caches\com.apple.kext.caches\Startup\

Post by Dave Houlbrooke »

OS - Mac 10.9.4
Virtual Box version 4.3.16 r95922
Guest OS - Mac 10.6

I was using the VM with above configuration for about 3 weeks and then last week, I keep getting the error
root device uuid is 'D7C5346F-B758-3899-AE43-A16207370241'
Loading drivers...
Loading System\Library\Caches\com.apple.kext.caches\Startup\Extensions.mtext

How to I resolve the above error and get my VM working properly.

Last week. You mean around the time 4.3.16 came out? Have you tried reverting to 4.3.12?

I reinstalled the same version 4.3.16 r95922 as another MacOS 10.6 (Snow Leopard GUEST OS) and it does not have the *kext.caches startup error. However, I do not know how to retrieve my files from the original non starting Guest OS nor do I know how to revert the non-starting Guest OS to a previous version without losing my data.

If it is easier, I would like to be able to get the data from that non starting Guest OS. Thanks

I don't know too much about OS X guests, but in general you would just take the VDI from the old VM and attach it as a second disk to the working VM, then you can copy the files off.
