Virtualbox running on Yosemite as host?

Hey guys,

is virtualbox running under mac os yosemite? to be clear, i dont want to install yosemite in virtualbox! i'd like to know if virtualbox is running under yosemite so that i can use my mac as a host for windows 8 applications?

Yosemite is not officially out. But, you're more than welcome to try it out and let us know if it runs in the latest beta with or without any problems. It's a quick install/uninstall process and the developers would appreciate any feedback.

i'am working on my ma thesis and need to run win8 for citavi so i wanna know if it works or not? generally i'd like to share my experience but before upgrading to yosemite i'd like to know if it works ;)

VirtualBox runs just fine in Yosemite. Whether Citavi runs in a Windows 8.1 guest is a different question and one I can't answer. I wouldn't recommend installing OSX 10.10 if you only have one Mac. You could install it on a separate partition or an external drive but a few people have run into some issues doing so. It's always risky installing a beta version of an OS.

You don't need Yosemite to run Windows 8.1 guests.

I´m having serious problems with running Windows 7 on Yosemite host. The problem is mainly with the USB connection. It doesn't connect like it used to. It causes crashes, and problems with launchpad. I even went to download the latest version of Virtual Box with the USB addition. but that did not help...
