CD Missing Contents

An issue that I have been having in 4.3.12, 4.3.14, 4.3.15, and now 4.3.16, is an inserted CD with files in the base directory and inside of subfolders do not display and are unaccessible in the VM.

For testing and learning purposes:
Host: Windows XP Professional x86 with 2 GB of RAM
Guest: Windows XP Professional x86 with 256 MB of RAM (also increased to 768 MB with same results)

The guest drive is slected as "Host Drive 'D:'" with the contents properly working on the host. I've attached a screenshot of the D:\ for both the host OS and guest OS to show the difference.

Is there something I'm doing wrong in regards to settings?

I don't know how to shrink the screenshot to fit in the window and also maintain legibility.

PNG format would be better for screenshots.

My first guess would be that the missing files are hidden, or it's a multisession data CD instead of plain ISO-9660. Setting the Passthrough option might help, or image the CD to an ISO.

I will try this tomorrow when I have access to this computer again. Where is the Passthrough option?

I tried to convert the disc to ISO and ImgBurn stated that it cannot be an ISO and it switched to a BIN. I'll check the hidden files but in the back where you see "DICOM Viewer" is the CDVIEWER folder seen in Internet Explorer (sole reason why I need the VM) it shows all filesets, but the VM only shows the first set. I will try to use PNG for the next screenshot. I used GIF for the smaller filesize.

Shutdown your guest. Go to the VM Settings, Storage, select the CD icon on the left, click the CD icon on the right and select "Host Drive ..." from the drop down menu. A checkbox appears right below that labeled "Passthrough". Check the checkbox.

GIF was neat in the 80s, but if you want a compressed full color (non palette) image format today that's widely accepted, then use PNG. People really shouldn't need a Bayer dither in this day and age. Even back in the day that was the least acceptable option! (Floyd-Steinberg gave a better looking dither).

Thank you for your reply and instruction. I was definitely not going to think to click on the CD icon on the far right but this is what was needed and the drive works as it should.

Is it safe to say that old habits never die even if the GIF is older than I am? I will keep that in mind for future reference, so thank you for pointing that out. It's what I've used for files being displayed on a TV, so I'm not sure why I wouldn't think to use them for web as well.

Thank you both for your help. I will also take a better look at the Windows 8.1 host in which I will be utilizing this software in the end and hopefully it runs as smooth as this has after this hiccup.
