Hello everyone,
I would be forever grateful if someone here could help me. I am using Windows 8, and I created a VM running Windows 95. I am trying to play some old Disney Interactive games, but the games require 256 colors and 600x800 resolution. The only option Windows 95 gives me is 16 colors and a smaller resolution. How to I change this? Please note that I am very new to VirtualBox. I would appreciate simple step by step instructions. I have searched the internet high and low for answers to no avail. Please help me! Thank you~!

You want SVGA graphics, and for that you'll need a VESA driver. Bearwindows VESA drivers are available for Win98 (see Tutorials), you'll have to check for Win95 availability yourself.

Okay, I'm on the site where I can download this driver. But how do I install it on my virtual machine? Could you be more specific? This is all Greek to me. Thanks so much for your fast reply!mpack wrote:You want SVGA graphics, and for that you'll need a VESA driver. Re: HELP! 256 Colors on Windows 95 VM?
Sorry, but there's a limit to how much help I can give. E.g. my giving you detailed Win95 tuition would be beyond the remit of these forums, and in any case your Win95 experience is much more recent than mine!
Like any PC, data is supplied from removable disks, network connections or USB flash drives. I think we can rule out the latter two for a new Win95 VM, which means you must provide the drivers on a virtual CD or floppy. The floppy is probably easiest, so you need to Google for a tool that allows you to copy host files into a floppy image. The floppy image must be raw (uncompressed) - you can tell that's the case because the image size will be exactly 1,474,560 bytes.
You found a Win95 driver? Just be sure of it, because a Win98 driver will not work.
