Space on local HDD not released

Post by Tonksy »

2009 MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.4, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD (OCZ Vertex 4)
VirtualBox 4.3.14 r95030

I installed Windows 8.1 64bit, VMDK format, and shortly after deleted it due to compatibility issues. VM was deleted by deleting within the VirtualBox application, I was prompted to delete all files which I said yes to. All files were deleted and disk-space on my local SSD was restored.

Created a new VM the next day for Windows 7 Pro 64bit, VDI format, and installed all updates etc. After a while I noticed I was running out of disk space on the VM and so I went through the same procedure of deleting it so I could increase the size. Fixed Size was previously selected so could not increase the size.

After the Windows 7 VM was deleted my disk space has not been released.

I have enabled hidden files and used various tools to search for the 30GB VM, no luck. Virtual Media Manger does NOT show any machines.

Very frustrated as I can't afford to just lose 30GB of space! Can anyone help me? I can really do without having to blat my machine and start from scratch again!
