Mavericks Virtual Box and Win 7 64 bit

Post by Daffyduck »

I am having major issues with trying to mount a corporate image on Imacs that are running Windows 7 64 bit and the latest version of VB Things go swimmingly until I get to the windows Install and then it goes pear shaped in that Windows comes up with an error saying "windows could not configure one or more system components"

I have tried to uninstall and re install VB and restart the image but it gets to the same point. is this because its a packaged ISO and not just the OS, would I be better just mounting the basic Win 7 64 bit and then installing additions like MS Office afterwards.. I have noticed that I also have to power off and back on a few times before the image is even picked up as it comes up with errors saying that it is unable to launch all pretty new to this but VB is pretty straight forward and this is the first curve ball it has thrown at me any help would be appreciated

If it's a corporate "sysprepped" Win7 image then presumably it's supported by your corporate IT department, so I would definitely approach them for support first. It's almost pointless for us here to speculate on what might be missing from a non-standard image.

Yes that would be a good idea except we are just starting to get Macs in our work environment and its all pretty new they don't have much of an idea as to why it won't work so I thought hey I will post here just in case someone has a cunning plan so to speak.

I appreciate it could be a number of things that could cause this issue especially trying to find out what components it is struggling to install where would be a good starting point? We have managed win XP and win 7 32 bit Os
So it would be logical to assume its something in they sys prep the other OS where installed from a basic VLK image and then patched to latest versions of software would it be wise to follow this path? One other thing to ask if you follow this path and create a virtual machine by downloading the patches/ updates is it possible to then export this as an ISO or Virtual Disc Image so it can be deployed out? Please excuse my lack of knowledge regarding this software I am getting to grips with it albeit a bit slowly

Win7 is running on a virtual machine, not on Mac hardware, so your familiarity with the Mac is not really the point. The error most probably reflects some unexpected feature of the virtual hardware, but I can't say what that is from here.
