Icon

Postby G-Force » 10. May 2008, 11:40

Hi,

First, thanks for the great release! It works great on my iMac. I do dislike one small thing: the icon. The icon does not look as good as the 'old' one if you ask me and does not blend in at all with the rest of OS X's icons. The icon should be the old one (the nice blueish box). Preferrably in 512x512 pixels format for Cover Flow.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the new icon?

I made a new one from the logo_vbox.png image in the top-left of this page. It is a little better than the old one since it has the adjusted color and 'Sun' panel. Unfortunately the largest size is a bit jaggy -- so it isn't quite perfect.

Available (until I receive grave legal threats -- but, hey, it is probably fair-use) at: http://www.hxa7241.org/other/virtualbox.icns

Copy it to two places:
/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/Resources/virtualbox.icns
/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/Resources/VirtualBoxVM.app/Contents/Resources/virtualbox.icns

...*much* better than the orangey-blue wodge thing...

With 1.6.2. (released today) we've corrected this and gone back to the old Icon look and now use it on all platforms as well as the Guest Additions :)

So as part of the acquisition we (Sun) will make mistakes here and there, please keep on giving us feedback that we keep doing the right thing and we'll listen.

As a proud Mac user, i'm really happy to read that Sun is ready to listen to our community's problem (ok, at least with VirtualBox !) :)

Wow : just tested, and snapshots work perfectly ! Moreover, the "-32 (VERR_INTERNAL_ERROR)" bug has been fixed ! (needed a machine reboot to be fixed)

Nice work Sun :D

Wow, thank you very much for listening to us. The icon looks great and much better than the Sun one. Thanks! :)
