Usb 2.0 with Extension Pack in 4.3.15 r95713
Hi
I've been using Virtualbox on Windows 7 Ultimate, with Elementary as guest
Windows got "corrupted" and some apps begun failing, so -before formatting host- I decided to install Windows 7 Pro as guest
After getting some errors (E_FAIL (0x80004005)) and doing some research here (ticket/13187), I ended up installing VirtualBox 4.3.15 r95713
Now I notice the Extension Pack is not compatible with this version, and I need to have usb 2.0
Is there any workaround? Should I backup my Elementary guest, and reinstall other VirtualBox version?
Thanks a lot in advance,

I'm having the same issue. Is this being addressed?

The extension pack from 4.3.14 (the formally released one, on the downloads page) will still work with the 4.3.15 beta. I'm using it for the exact same reason.
(I haven't actually *tried* any USB on the guest since the upgrade, but at least I can boot with no problems.)

If I remember well, I think I've tried to install it and got the version missmatch error. Will try again this evening

Your guest isn't relevant. The extension pack is a VBox plugin installed on the host, and affects all guests.cwyse wrote:Actually - my guest is Ubuntu 12.04....

sorry, but still getting version missmatch
Could anyone point me to the 4.3 extension pack file? The downloads website contains only extension pack 4.2

Thanks

The extension pack must match your running version of VirtualBox. Select your running version from here http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/ and then the proper extension pack.

Re: Usb 2.0 with Extension Pack in 4.3.15 r95713
I didn't find the Extension Pack for 4.3.15, therefore, I could only load the extension pack from 4.3.14 which is the officially released version. But the USB2 really doesn't work. The virtualbox sees the USB2 devices, but Utuntu is unable to load them, neither the USB-Stick nor Android Phone. Device manager says about invalid address. Update would be urgently needed!
BTW. The reason why I didn't use the virtualbox 4.3.14 is because it doesn't work in all my windows 7 workstations since they all have virus scanner. I am wondering are there still any window 7 machines that don't have virus scanner?

There is not specific extension pack for 4.3.15 as that was a test build. I suggest that you install the latest release 4.3.16 and its matching extension pack.

Thanks, the updae is coming faster than I post the problem. Sorry, I am new to virtualbox. I installed virtualbox 4.3.17 beta test, and it works. USB2 works now too, however with the extension pack of 4.3.16. Now everything works, even debuging of android device works in the virtualbox too. I don't know much about hardening which has been introduced since 4.3. I tried install 4.2.26 before, and it didn't start and reported the error in relation to hardening, just my feedback.
