I'm running a Windows 7 client on a Windows 7 host.

When using FF I cannot play videos on Youtube.

The video starts, I hear sounds but the video it self shows a black screen.

Running Chrome or IE on the same Windows guest play's without problems.

It is on multiple machines but my idea is that I'm missing something in my FF setup on this virtual guest.

I could use some suggestions

I have VB 4.3.12 r93733 installed on a Win7 Professional 64bits host with 12Gb memory.

I'm running a Windows 7 Ultimate as a guest with 3072Mb memory and the latest version of the Guest Additions.

Attached you find the guest-log since yesterday.

The issue is that video-playback in Firefox is slow, it is bumpy or I only hear the sound but the video stays black.

I saw this in the log: "VT-x is disabled in the BIOS".

I just checked but it is enabled in the Bios.

Have you tried enabling 2D video acceleration?

If I was you I would double check what you say about VT-x being enabled in your BIOS. But, it isn't actually relevant at the moment. The line in the log is just a warning.

I've checked the VT settings and it is on.

I've also updated my Bios to the latest release.

Yep, the 2d-acceleration is enabled on the Display page in the VB config of the virtual-machine.

Not according to the log, and I don't recall the log ever being wrong.

However, it's possible that some other software is grabbing VT-x. Some AV suites do it, system level debuggers do it. Hyper-v does it. I think the logged message would be different, but it's worth checking.

It supports Intel® VT-x and there is just one setting in the Bios: enable or disable Intel® Virtualization Technology.

The only other thing running on my Win7 host is the Comodo Internet Security Premium.

That's probably your problem right there. You should contact whoever makes Comodo and ask them how to prevent it from taking over hardware virtualization.

We unfortunately can't help you here -- if VirtualBox can't use VT-x, it can't use VT-x and there's nothing we can do about it. You need to prevent whatever is taking over VT-x from doing so.

Looking at the Bios again I found the VT-x disabled under a header called: Device Security...... go figure!

Enabled it and all running F.A.S.T!

Been running it like this for 6 months, even installed the Host and Guest from scratch
