I have installed guest additions and enabled more then enough of resources for machine, all gpu ram(Tried with less doesnt help), almost all cpu, ram...

 Edit:
animation is nice to have in windows 8. 3 D acceleration suppose to help out.
However I gave up enabling video acceleration for windows 8 guest. I just tune the guest for best performance, no animation. that seem to help. if you don't need internet printing client, disable that from the vm's windows feature. this helps stop blinking too.
furthermore disable any windows 8 feature you don't plan to use.

I only gave the vm 128 MB of video memory but allowed for the extra video shared memory of 256MB for the vm's total RAM size of 1280 MB. currently the vm is stable and responsive.

I prefer a stable vm over eye candy, despite it sure would be nice to see the window popup as I scroll thru opened windows with alt-tab
