Getting logged off when remoting into VM

Post by Druulen »

Hi!
I came across an issue that I didn't find any information on. Here's what happens: I startup the VM and log in as a standard user. Then if I go to another workstation (Windows 7 Enterprise x64) and remote (RDP) into the VM as the same user the active session gets logged off (it says "Signing out") so all the open programs get closed. It doesn't connect to the active session as it usually should. So I have to run RDP again to actually remote into it. Then if I go back to the host and log into the VM the same thing happens (logging in as the same user), meaning the active session gets logged out so I have to log in again and of course it's a new session so all the programs that may have been opened are closed. I never came across anything like this before, either with a VM or a physical machine. Granted previously I was using Windows XP and Windows 7. It only started after I upgraded my workstation to Windows 8.1. Scratching my head. What am I missing? Did anybody come across anything like that? Could it be something specific to Windows 8.1? Or that I'm logged in as standard user? One other thing: I can remote just fine into the host (I'm logged in as an admin) and then access the active session on the guest.

Here is my setup:

Host: Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64
Guest VM: Windows 8.1 Pro N x86
VirtualBox 4.3.12
The host, the guest, and Windows 7 workstations are all members of a domain.
