nvinitx.dll is either not designed to run on windows...

Post by oracle@ohds.co.uk »

I installed virtual box on windows 8.1 64 bit, ran it and it seemed ok.

Now every time I try to run it, I get:

VirtualBox.exe - Bad Image
c:\windows\system32\nvinitx.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error... Error status 0xc0000190.

So it seems not to work. I found a few posts of people with same issue, but no solutions are posted.

I tried running it as administrator, no effect.

I use the windows built in virus protection (defender?)

its v 4.3.14, and says its up to date.

Any ideas?

If you're using VirtualBox 4.3.14, then try reverting to 4.3.12.

Yeah, this work around eliminates the mentioned error for me... I received the exact same error as previously mentioned in this thread - downgrading to 4.3.12 eliminated the error and allowed me to install the extensions pack.
