I installed virtual box on windows 8.1 64 bit, ran it and it seemed ok.
Now every time I try to run it, I get:
VirtualBox.exe - Bad Image
c:\windows\system32\nvinitx.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error... Error status 0xc0000190.
So it seems not to work. I found a few posts of people with same issue, but no solutions are posted.
I tried running it as administrator, no effect.
I use the windows built in virus protection (defender?)
its v 4.3.14, and says its up to date.
Any ideas?
nvinitx.dll is either not designed to run on windows...

If you're using VirtualBox 4.3.14, then try reverting to 4.3.12.

Yeah, this work around eliminates the mentioned error for me... I received the exact same error as previously mentioned in this thread - downgrading to 4.3.12 eliminated the error and allowed me to install the extensions pack.mpack wrote:If you're using VirtualBox 4.3.14, then try reverting to 4.3.12.
