Win 7 host Sleep crashes Win 7 guest

Hi, I'm running VirtualBox 4.3.12 r93733. Computer is an HP Envy 700-215xt with 8 GB RAM. Host OS is 64-bit Win 7 Home Premium; guest OS is 32-bit Win 7 Pro. I'm finding that if I put the host OS to sleep, when I wake it up the guest OS is hanging and has to be shut down. I've tried adjusting the guest Power Options so that the VM is always running (on the theory that the host OS needs control over power management), but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas?

When "sleep" takes place there are a lot of steps involved. Both in hardware and in software. If your host goes to sleep, the guest has no clue. It looses the ground under its feet. Your best bet would be to put the guest to sleep/pause/save_state (or even better shut it down) and then put your host to sleep.

a lot of variations around that can influence the effect of host going sleep mode with windows vm running.
- host OS and it's configuration, hardware
- guest OS and it's configuration, virtual hardware
why? my 8.1 pro industrial vm now be be running and I put the host to sleep.
the vm still runs fine upon waking the host and login.
mind you the host is windows 8.1 pro, I have done fair amount of work make the vm stable. see my other post on frequent black out screen on windows 8.1 guest
