I am trying to create a Windows 7 VM on my Mac OS X (version 10.9.4) machine. I do NOT have a Windows 7 DVD. I can download an official copy of Windows 7. How do I build the VM using the downloaded version of Windows 7?

You cannot download an official copy of Windows 7 legally. The only ones I know are a 30-day limited version, so if you're referring to that one, read Chapter 1.7 Creating your first virtual machine.

Can you provide a link to where you think a legal copy of Win7 can be downloaded?

If it's a trial edition then it comes as a CD image, an ISO, which can be attached to the VM directly.

Actually, you're correct. I was thinking about the modern.ie site, but I was mistaken in that all of the downloads come in pre-made VMs, not a 30-day limited CD.
