VBox not starting

Post by Innuenze »

Hello! I have a little trouble with starting Virtual Box on win 7.

Previously, all works very good. But I did compress drive (local disc "C") to save space. After this action, I can't start Virtual Box with this Error:
"Start tag expected '<' not found.
Location: C:/Users/Hero/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml, line 1(0), Column 1

D:/Tinderbox/win-4.1/src/VBox/Main/Src-server/VirtualBoxImpl.cpp[485] (VirtualBox::init)

error code: E_FALL (0x80004005)"
What can I do for fix this error?
Thanks!

If you check the size of the file "C:/Users/Hero/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml", most probably it is 0 bytes. Check to see if there is a file called "C:/Users/Hero/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml-tmp". If the file is there and not 0 bytes, copy it to VirtualBox.xml. Otherwise check for a file called "C:/Users/Hero/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml-prev" and copy that to the VirtualBox.xml.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 32 as Host and Windows 2008 as Guest. As I needed to create two guests, so I copied the VDI/Folder of Windows 2008 after I completed installation.

When I try to create another Guest with same VDI it gives me error for same UUID, which i fixed with VBOXMANAGE Internal command but the problem after that i got it is when I try to open the copied Guest it doesnt starts and hangs on Black Screen, I tried using safe mode and it hands on CRCDISK.SYS and stay there.

Can you please let me know how to debug this problem and how to fix it?

I am using Vbox 4.3.15
