VirtualBox USB won't uninstall on Windows 7

Post by paul.ourada »

Hi - Pretty new to this forum. I looked around for something similar but couldn't find anything, so here goes.

I've got an HP Z15 laptop. I had installed VB 4.3.10 and the extensions for USB. I semi-successfully connected a USB device to the host, and passed it through to the guest, another Windows 7 box. So this wasn't entirely successful and I decided to stop that VM (shutdown) and try connecting to the device directly from the laptop. Instead of the expected device name showing up, Kendall SCD 700, VirtualBoxUSB was the name of the device (see attachement). Also, I couldn't connect to the actual physical device. I started the VM back up and made sure that the device was not in its USB filter list. Shut the VM down, and still the same problem.

The next thing I tried was to uninstall the extensions. Still the same problem. Then I uninstalled VirtualBox altogether, thinking that this would surely keep VB code from hijacking the USB port/device. Still the same problem.

I tried installing VB 4.3.14 thinking this might things up. Wouldn't even run - exception right out of the gate. Tried rebooting several times - no joy.

Anyone know how to uninstall the VirtualBox USB driver on a Windows 7 box?

Thanks,
Paul
