VirtualBox does not scale for fullscreen gaming

I have been using VirtualBox to run some old Japanese VNs on a Windows XP guest OS. Problem is that whenever I switch into fullscreen on game settings VirtualBox does not scale to fill the page. Any idea what went wrong?
