Graphics Card Missing/Hardware acceleration

Post by Fillippimini »

Hi All,

I've been using VB for some time now, but I've recently done a fresh install of windows 7 on my 2011 MBP.

I am running the latest version of VB.
I'm trying to play a game, but continue to get the message saying a suitable graphics card can not be found.

I have turned on 2D and 3D acceleration and installed the guest additions. I made the mistake of initially installing them not in safe mode. So I went into safe mode and installed them but I still get the same message. Now in my settings 2D and 3D acceleration are ticked, but greyed out.

I've also just noticed that if I try to open something as simple as solitaire, I get a message saying hardware acceleration is not enabled.

I need help.

Actually you don't want to install the guest additions in safe mode for Windows 7 and beyond. So you need to remove them in safe mode and reinstall normally.

Could you play the game before?

No, I have never been able to play.

Could it be that my macs graphics card is just not good enough?
I've tried enabling direct 3D and it doesn't give me that message, but the game just freezes.

well, certain games won't play in a virtual machine so I doubt it's your Mac's graphics card.
