Code: Select all

00:00:01.173123 HMR3Init: Falling back to raw-mode: VT-x is disabled in the BIOS.
Enable hardware virtualization in the hosts bios

Code: Select all

00:00:23.255703 Console: VM runtime error: fatal=true , errorID=PAEmode message="The guest is trying to switch to the PAE mode which is currently disabled by default in VirtualBox. PAE support can be enabled using the VM settings (System/Processor)"
do what the error message says to do.

I checked the BIOS Setup (on an ASUS X75A laptop), and it showed Virtualizaotion thing "enabled". I still get a critical error when booting up a Win8 restore DVD. I have attached the VBox log file, which I hope will reveal that I have done something quite dumb and easy to fix.

According to the log file your host is Windows, not Linux. Moving the thread to "Linux Guests".

Also, is this issue different from your previous thread? The subject matters seem very similar.

I'm lost but it seems j8tennant hijacked UnicornMAN's thread.

Ah right, I didn't notice that the last poster wasn't the OP.

j8tennant, if the previous answers don't solve your problem then start your own topic, and provide a VM log file. Minimum information needed for assistance.
