Hi
New to this forum. Have installed VBox 4.3.12 on Win7 64-bit Host. Installed Windows XP 32-bit as Guest. Have closely followed instructions on Parallel Port printing as outlined in the forums. However, as soon as I attempt to start my WinXP VM *after* enabling the parallel port, the VM crashes with an error message containing some of the following info:
Unable to open session. Could not open file 'ParallelPort0" (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
I'll post a 2nd message right away, unfortunately, when this happens, it crashes the Host Windows after a few minutes, so I've got to write it down.
Any ideas? This computer has a built-in Parallel Port, on the motherboard.

Parallel port problem
Re: Parallel port problem
OK, here is the exact message:
Parallel#0 could not open 'LPT1'
(VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
Parallel device 0 cannot attach to host driver
(VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
Could this be because I don't have the driver software for the LPT printer installed yet? Or something else.
Please help, thanks in advance.

Re: Parallel port problem
You seem to be thrashing around trying different device names. You only need one device name: the correct one.
As to how you find it; when you look in the Device Manager of the host, Ports (COM and LPT) branch, what name does it show for your host's LPT port?
