Post by Paddy »

Hi all,

I've installed VM box on windows 7. It installs, I can make a new VM, but when I go to start it I get this:

Result Code:

Component:
Machine
Interface:
IMachine {480cf695-2d8d-4256-9c7c-cce4184fa048}

Anyone help me ??

Did you install Windows 7 on the new guest you created or is this a face palm event?

Hi,

Not sure what face palm event is, but I selected Windows 7 when setting up the machine on the VB client and then it wont start when trying for the first time.

That make sense ??

Yup. VirtualBox is an application that allows you to install various guests and you need to do just that.

Ok, Any idea why I'm getting an error when starting the VM after setting it up ??

I'm not getting the chance to install Win7 - I just get an error when starting it first time.

Do you have an install cd or iso of an install cd?
Have you mounted it in the virtual cd/dvd in the guest settings?

Have you checked out this thread:

To be on the safe side you might want to install a prior version (4.3.12) just to get up and running.

Not sure how familiar you are with VB so pardon me if this is too basic. Here is a pretty good step-by-step tutorial for VB:

Hi all,

Many thanks for the replay's. I read through the links and it was the anti-virus that was holding up the show.

Up and running now :)

I had frequent guest system crashes with a W7 x64 host / W7 x64 guest on 4.3.14 - using no antivirus at all - and reverting to 4.3.12 seems to have cleared that up.

thought i'd mention it in case you run into similar experiences.
