Hard Drive Help!

I have a problem. I got a new iMac G5 and the hard drive is corrupt. It also can't boot from CD or USB. So I am wondering if I can plug the hard drive into my Windows computer and use VirtualBox to install it, then put it in my iMac. The only reason I am asking on here, is because I've been looking for hours with no success. Any help is STRONGLY appreciated.
Thanks
~Nate

The iMac G5 was discontinued nearly 10 years ago so not sure how "new" it could be. It was the last of the PPC Macs. It's extremely unlikely you could swap the drive and do much of anything with it. How do you know the HD is corrupt as opposed to broken? If you have the OS disks and it won't boot from those, why do you think the computer itself isn't broken?
I don't know what you mean by use "VirtualBox to install it". Install what?
And why are you asking in the Windows Hosts section?

Moved to Mac host.
Also you can not install Mac OS on a virtual guest that is not running on apple hardware.

Sorry I didn't know which section this was suppose to be in, and by new I mean new to me. I know the hard drive died because when I boot it, it has a folder icon with a flashing '?', which means it can't find the system files.
"EDIT"
I want to install a retail copy of Mac OSX Tiger to the hard drive.
I also think that it doesn't boot from DVD because the disk drive is broken. I know the majority of the computer works because my neighbor gave it too me and it worked about a week ago.

And I got a new hard drive for it. Forgot to put that in last reply.

Unfortunately this is not a hardware repair forum. About the only thing I can imagine you might be able to do is, if you can get an external CD/DVD USB 2.0 drive, you could plug that in to your G5, insert the OSX 10.4 install disk, reboot the G5 while holding down the option key and try booting from the external CD drive. Short of that, you will have to have it repaired at an Apple Store.
