Black screen at initialization

Hi all,

When initializing my Ubuntu 13.10 virtual machine I had a crash in my computer what made necessary a shut down. After initialize the host system I tried to start my virtual machine but when I do a GRUB screen appears giving me some options to start.

Any of the two first options give me a black screen with an underscore, but not blinking.

Does anyone know what I can do to make it initialize or a way to recover some files from the virtual machine?

Thanks in advance,
Jefferson Vieira

Sounds like the guest is corrupt. You can attach the guest vdi to another guest and retrieve the data, use the guests recovery method to see if it will fix this, or install it again.
In any case you should backup the original vdi file until you have your data recovered.
