IE8 webpage blank when done loading

Post by MDesigns »

I am having some really strange issues using IE8 on my VirtualBox running Windows 7. I am trying to test a Wordpress site(served remotely through a domain name), but 98% of the time when I load the page, it's just a blank white page. I can see IE loading all the resources in the lower left status bar and it says "done," but there's nothing on the screen. Stranger yet, sometimes when I hit refresh, the page does actually load, but it's inconsistent. Sometimes it will load on the first refresh, other times I will refresh 30-50 times and it will be blank every time.

I tested this on a friend's PC that had IE8 outside of a virtual box and it loaded every time, I also tested it on another one of my Virtual Boxes running IE9 on Win7 and it loaded every time there. The issue seems to be specific to my VirtualBox with IE8. does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance!

The only thing I can suggest is asking about IE8 in a Microsoft forum. I'm not aware of any systemic Internet browser issues in VirtualBox.

There is one possibility that you can check. Look in the preferences of IE for something that allows you to disable the access to GPU. Most virtual machines can not use this properly.
