Hi,
VirtualBox 4.3.12
Host Windows 8.1 64 bit
Guest OS Linux MINT16
External HDD usb 3.0

I have all Installed , including GuestAditions for Host and Guest, and running without issues.
In VB for the Guest I have enabled USB+USB 2.0 suport. Also I have added the USB Filter for that USB HDD and it showing there correctly.
Running the Guest I enabled in Menu DEVICES>USB> that External HDD.
But I can not see the HDD in MINT16.

P.S.: I tried other way, that is far more easy, going over "Shared Folder" and I can access it.

VirtualBox does not support USB 3.0. So for now you have to use the shared folder method.

Would it work if I connect the HDD to a USB 2.0 Port instead of USB3.0?

Yes, it should do.

Still, it would probably work faster and more reliably as a Shared Folder, and then it wouldn't matter what port you plugged it into.
