What exactly do you mean "normally"? Because from the logs I couldn't see anything strikingly obvious. The only thing I noticed is that you only have 512 MB of RAM allocated to your guest. It is what the template suggests, but it seems a little low. Other than that, again, please describe the problems/symptoms in a little bit more of a detail.Eng.a wrote:i am now unable to start my guest machine normally

Re: Unable to start win 2008 server r2
Win2008 machine goes on permanent black screen soon after starting it,in other words
won't pass windows progress bar.
i tried launch start up repair, end up with (Guru Meditation) "a critical error has occurred
while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped",same
thing goes for all advance boot options
i also tried boot from Win2008 server r2 DVD media, again same thing happened
so i am stuck on this cycle.
i have anther 3 machines on VB that experiencing same thing
won't pass windows progress bar.

Re: Unable to start win 2008 server r2
Have you posted the correct log? ... Because the log you provided shows the VM starting up normally, running for 37minutes, then shutting down normally. There is no Guru Meditation logged - which there would be if it happened in the logged session.

That was not really very helpful. I am sure most of us know what a black screen looks like!

Re: Unable to start win 2008 server r2
All right, now we seem to be getting somewhere.
I would suggest two things: one is unmount that ISO from the VM and see if that helps. Second is to find out if this VM will boot up in safe mode. If so then I would use that opportunity to bring the GAs up to date.
I note that the crash occurs almost immediately after the GAs report their presence, which also means that the guest has pretty much finished booting up.VBox.log wrote: 00:00:42.336678 Guest Additions information report: Version 4.2.22 r91556 '4.2.22'

Re: Unable to start win 2008 server r2
ISO: Make sure the VM is completely shut down, look in the "Storage" section. You current have an ISO image mounted as a virtual CD in your virtual CD/DVD drive. Remove the CD, i.e. make the drive empty.
GAs == Guest Additions. See chapter 4 of the user manual.
The new log shows the same triple fault crash. If this isn't resolved by unmounting the ISO then I'm out of ideas - I would like to see those GAs updated, but I couldn't suggest how.
