Windows 98 SE help

I'm quite lost.
I have Win 98 SE installed on a virtual machine, I can get it to go on the internet and do basic things.
The problem is I want to get a graphics driver on it.
I have no idea how to use the bearwindows website. If I download the file in the guest, I can't do anything with it because I can't get anything to extract the files.
I can't download 7zip, since the links don't work in the guest OS.

VirtualBox uses it's own graphics driver so there's really no point in trying to use a different one.

I am sorry to contradict loukingjr, but Windows 98 does need extra graphics drivers.

Proceed as follows, starting in the host:

On the appropriate page of the BearWindows site (http://bearwindows.boot-land.net/vbe9x.htm) scroll down a little to the Download Drivers grid. Choose which version you want (you might as well use the newest one in the top line) and click on one of the '[?]' links to download it. (There are three mirrors, so it doesn't matter which you choose.) This will download a Zip file (not 7-Zip as it happens), which will probably be named after the version date.

Expand the Zip file. For VirtualBox you probably only need the 032MB directory. Put the three files in this onto a disk or CD image, in whatever way you normally write files to images.

All the above has been in the host. Now start your Windows 98 guest.

Insert the image you have just made into an appropriate virtual drive. Right-click on the guest screen background, and from "Properties | Settings | Advanced | Adapter" click "Change...", then in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" that appears, select "Search for a better driver ..." choose "Floppy disk drive" or "CD ROM" as appropriate, and proceed in the obvious way.

Note that occasionally the machine may crash on the first reboot. If it does, boot to Safe Mode, then reboot again to normal.
