OK, I read your posts. All of them. What you need to do, is to make a summary of your problem in one post, because one-line answers are not that helpful. You need, as mpack has repeatedly said, to clearly describe your problem, symptoms and steps so that we could (potentially) reproduce your problems.

First of all. Minimum information needed for assistance. Which means that we need a log. Zipped. And your host information.

Second. You mentioned Intel Matrix Storage Driver. That's on your host, right? Because if you installed it on the guest, something is really wrong. Have you checked the interwebs for "Intel Matrix Storage Driver corruption"? Which would mean that VirtualBox has absolutely nothing to do with this?

Third. What is the meaning of "win2003.vdi -> C:\", "wccache.vhd -> C:\wccache" and "ibm.vhd -> C:\ibm"?

Fourth. What is the meaning of "Checked twice: with SATA installation fails, with IDE it succeeds"?

Again, in summary, describe what you want to do (not what you think you should be doing) and explain in a little bit more detail what is going wrong. And no not forget the first point. Logs.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I'm trying to install a fixpack for Websphere Commerce. Install fails, if and only if virtual disk attached to SATA or SCSI controller. The installer log shows the location of the failed zip or jar file. Indeed, that file is not a valid zip file any more.

nothing wrong. Win2003 has no SATA driver and this is why it's installed on guest

those are mount points on guest

It means, I reverted the last snapshot and tried again. Then I reverted again, attached it to IDE controller and that time the install succeeded.

You'll need to synch your VirtualBox, your Extension Pack and the Guest additions. Already you have a failure to load the Extension Pack. This most probably has nothing to do with your issue, it's simply sloppy.

You installed the Intel Matrix Storage Driver on your guest??? I think I understand what's going on here.
  • You installed Win2003 32bit.
  • You decided that it would be a good idea (for performance reasons?) to add a SATA controller to Win2003 and move the VHD file there.
  • Since there were no SATA drivers for Win2003[1], you installed the Intel Matrix Storage Driver on your guest.
  • Failure.
Is the above list correct?

Does Windows support Serial ATA (SATA) drives?
Out of the box, no current Windows version, including Windows Server 2003, supports SATA drives. However, just as you can add a SCSI controller to Windows, you just need to add the correct SATA driver that ships with the motherboard or SATA host adapter. After you've installed the driver, Windows will be able to see the SATA controller and any attached devices.

To have no limit of 4 disks on IDE controller

> Is the above list correct?
It also fails with SCSI controller and standard windows driver

I'll just mention, before Socrates goes too far, that many people install Intel SATA drivers into Win2K, XP and Win2K3 guests, and it usually works fine. There are two separate discussions of it in the tutorials section | Windows Guests.

Apart from that, i.e. as to the OPs problem, he doesn't seem to be willing to explain the situation properly, e.g. why so many disks, why the scattering of them all over the place, what are these files he's trying to import and what method he's using - etc etc - this is too much like hard work, I don't see any progress being made until the sitution is properly explained.
